Dallas County is widening and improving Washington Avenue intersections at Gaston and Junius. The current phase of this project requires closure of two of the four lanes along Washington Avenue and the adjacent east-side sidewalk from Junius Street north to Floyd Street (one block north of Gaston) as well as the prohibition of left turns in some directions. This phase of the construction may last several weeks depending upon weather conditions.
For the next year, motorists and pedestrians are being told to expect and plan ahead for construction, increased traffic congestion and driving delays in the affected areas, near Washington Avenue, intersections at Gaston Avenue and Junius Street. In addition to lane closures, they also warn that you should be prepared for the usual impacts of a large construction project, including on-site equipment, supplies, workers, noise, etc.
Baylor Parking and Transportation Services announced that they may slightly alter the driving routes of Baylor shuttles, but plan to maintain service to all existing shuttle stop locations. Riders should prepare for the possibility of delays as shuttles adjust to the construction project.
